BOUJAD RUGS
Each Boujad Rug is made in a unique way by artisans in the region of Haouz, Morocco. This region is located between the Middle Atlas and the Atlantic Ocean. Each Boujad Rug tells a different story through their colours and traditional Berber patterns. Boujad is a Berber carpet woven by hand from natural wool fibres and vegetable dyes. Newly woven rugs will feature bright and vibrant colours like pink, purple, red and orange, while old rugs may have pretty, washed pastel tones. There is no right or wrong place to put a gorgeous Moroccan Boujad Rug. Although, we suggest placing it in low traffic areas due to their delicacy. The thickness of this Moroccan carpet varies according to the weaver. Some can be extraordinarily plus, while others are closer to a flat weave.
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR BOUJAD CARPET
The Berber Boujad Rug is very resistant, withstands years and becomes even more gorgeous over time. But, gorgeous things still need to be taken care of- in order for them to preserve its shine and soft wool. If it’s not overly dirty, we recommend vacuuming instead of washing it. You may also use a brush to clean it. Berber Rugs are made with soft wool, so over time vacuuming will wear out faster. If you are vacuuming, suggest doing so once or twice every trimester. If you’re looking for a soapy, deep clean, we recommend that you leave that to the professionals. If you need to clean out stains, a water/vinegar mixture will do wonders! It’ll remove messes and help neutralize odours. Since the des are natural, we would refrain from using a chemical-based cleaner, as they’re more likely to degrade its colour.
