Nowadays designing homes in multicultural themes has risen in popularity .To enhance the decor in your home it is necessary to add beautiful accessories, and fabulous rugs from different culture and impressive stories.  Even large retailers had introduced a whole furniture lines that reflect a particular cultureor country, such as Indian or Japanese home furnishing lines, however the Moroccan design is one of the most well liked new trends, particularly in the rug and carpet sector. Moroccan carpets that are hand-woven have become an excellent method to welcome coziness and foster a cheery and charming ambiance in your home.

Moroccan Berber carpetsare in high demand worldwide among art lovers and interior decorators because they are full of character and history. The skilled weavers of the Berber tribes in and around the Atlas Mountains hand-knot magical Berber rugs. The colors, designs, and weaving methods utilized by the tribes are all part of their unique traditions, which have been handed from a generation to another. Despite numerous common design elements, the rugs made in these rural towns are startlingly contemporary looking and entirely individual. Because weaving allows berber women to express themselves, the carpets they create are highly symbolic and represent each weaver's unique personality.

From tribe to tribe, materials and colors vary. The majority use wool, although a few also employ camel hair or synthetic materials. However, weave might not be the only thing to take into account. Unlike Turkish and Persian carpets, the quality of Berber carpets is not usually associated with the weaving process. The majority of Moroccan carpets are made of wool, making them distinctive among their sort.

There are many characteristics of Moroccan hand-made rugs that distinguish them from the competitors. These features include:

The history of Berber rugs:

Many of the tribes that make up the Berber were established in the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. These tribes continued to exist in the mountains during the Arab conquest, and signs of their presence can still be seen there today. They were renowned for their recognizable rugs, which served a variety of domestic purposes. The style and color of these carpets were their most notable features.

Depending on who created them, they frequently came in various patterns, every rug is unique to each household, and every family has a special rug-making procedure. It was typical to discover rugs created entirely of various dyes, designs, and other elements. The fact that Berber rugs are still being made by families today, even after many centuries, is a testament to their durability. These distinctive rugs are still completely weaved in several regions of Morocco.

The carpet reflects the Berber tribes' origins:

Depending on the tribes who make the carpet, it varies. The most well-known carpets are those made by the confederation of the Ait Ouaouzguite tribes in the Taznakhteregion, close to Ouarzazate. There are three types of carpets: the Glaoua carpet of the High Atlas, the Achdif carpet of the Middle Atlas, made by the Zemmour or Zayane tribes, the Haouz carpet of rural Marrakech the beni ourain rugs  made by the beni ourain tribes...  These types are the most gorgeous decorating types, and they can be seen in all interiors and on all continents.

The fabulous designs:

In Morocco, there are as many different carpet designs since there are tribes and towns. Every group of people has a unique method for creating carpets, and every artisan infuse their creations with their own unique aesthetic.

In the majority of carpets, three primary processes are applied in various variations:

  • Pile or knotted carpets: A shaggy, tufted surface is produced by wrapping brief lengths of yarn around the warp threads.
  • Flat weave: To give a smooth, even surface, yarn is horizontally weaved through the warp threads in various designs.
  • To add more texture and intricate motifs and designs to a flat weave surface, an additional layer of embroidery is stitched on top.

Moroccan rugs are, to put it mildly, striking with their bold designs, eye-catching themes, and vibrant colors. Choose a less obvious pattern if your area already has a large amount of visual energy and elaborately made furniture. Moroccan carpets' casual and cozy charm reflects the tribal tradition of indigenous people. Considering that Moroccan carpets are typically created in larger proportions to accommodate the needs of contemporary living rooms, you might not be able to obtain a genuinely layered look.

The materials used:

They are manufactured from organic materials like cotton and wool. They have a special texture and feel as a result that synthetic materials simply cannot match. These carpets are ultra-soft and opulent since they are made with the finest wool and cotton. One kind of Berber carpets that is extremely unique in its kind is the boucharouite type. Recycled rag strips and yarns made from a range of "found" textile scraps, including wool, cotton, synthetic fibers, Lurex, nylon, and plastic, are utilized in the creation of these items.

The dramatic colors:

Berber carpets are unique in that they are all different. This singularity is more obvious when they are multicolored. The Berber tribes frequently employ patterns and colors that are symbolic of abstract or absurdist art to bring their masterpieces to life. Pattern and color selection are completely up to the discretion of Berber weavers. They can show their originality by drawing using a diverse palette. You can also get traditional black and white Berber rugs or luxurious multicolored Berber rugs in addition to white, blue, red, and pink, yellow, orange, and brown Berber carpets.

The interests and environment of each tribe are reflected in the communal and spontaneous nature of Berber carpets. While some tribal rugs has a minimalist design, others, like the Azilal rugs of Morocco's High Atlas Mountains, employ colors and patterns to convey stories.
