Nomad33 introduces new luxurious and artsy Berber carpets from Morocco. These rugs are made with the best quality of sheep wool and hand-knotted with great know-how by the women of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains who master ancestral techniques of weaving passed on through several generations.
The symbolism of the Berber carpet is the expression of a primordial cult of fertility and originality, originating from the first distant civilizations. There is no other craft art form in which this ancient allusive has remained so alive to this day. This is the unique feature of the Berber rugs.
The artistic composition of the carpets, uses simple patterns which all relate to the day-to-day of these tribes: The beetle is the symbol of protection against the evil eye, the teapot in reference to the welcome and friendliness of the villagers. Every symbol and every design tell a story that the skillful hands of the artisan immortalize in each rug.
Butterflies, flowers or stars symbolize feminine beauty. The twigs express the plants and the tree of life. The palm tree and the camel indicate the sufferings and the patience of the Berber woman. The lines in the center of the rugs often recall the architecture of the house. Each line and each thread carry a story that only a scrutinizing eye could see.
Nomad33's unique rugs are distinguished by their fine and silky wool as well as their colored or monochrome harmonies. Our rugs are the favorite target of gracious connoisseurs and interior designers for their creativity, their lines and symbols.
Most people are concerned about washing Moroccan rugs because they think they will lose their elegance and originality. Well, as long as you have the best types of the Moroccan rug, there will be no such concerns!
The original Berber tribal rugs are easily washable. All you need is a little care while washing and there will be absolutely no problem. Here are some tips from Nomad33 team for washing these rugs:
The first step to washing a moroccan antique rug or an artsy rug is to prepare a clean place or area where you will wash the rug. Wet this area and make sure there is no dirt or dust.
You have now prepared a place to wash your carpet. You need to prepare it for washing. To do this, you need to clean your carpet of dust and dry dirt. Hang the carpet on a rope and beat it with your hands or with a piece of wood (we prefer baseball bat) so that the dirt and dust particles fall off the carpet.
This can be done easily and will help you remove most dirt and dust particles from the carpet.
The next step will be to place your rug in the clean area you prepared earlier and make your Moroccan rug completely wet.
Next, you will need a washing powder, as the detergent is considered harmless for washing any carpet. Sprinkle the washing powder on the carpet and rub it gently with your hands to create foam on the carpet surface.
You can also scrub it with a soft brush. Once this is done, rinse the carpet thoroughly to remove all the foam. Use a little more water to make sure all the chemicals used are removed from the carpet.
Dry the carpet in the sun. Tumble dryers are not recommended for drying carpets.
Drying can take one to three days, depending on the thickness of your carpet. And Voila, dry it and you will have a brand new, clean and lovely rug.
